Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Melissa Marsch-Walblay
sells her beautiful silk pieces in our store. For the month of October she is donating 35% of her sales to a Domestic Violence shelter in Bowling Green, KY. Here is what she has to say...

October is Domestic Violence Awareness...

Domestic violence should not happen to anybody. My goal is to help inform or aid in the awareness of abused women. This is an area that is too often overlooked, dismissed, or too difficult to comprehend. Domestic violence can happen in any home, lifestyle, or education level.

I am dedicating 35% of my sales this month, to a local shelter for abused women. Facilities such as these are needed to give shelter, legal advice, and information to any abused woman. With the aid of the advocates they provide, many women find the strength to continue the battle. This is a system that focuses on the victim and her family. Confidentiality and safety are their top priority. Too many women would not make it through the battle if it were not for the support, encouragement and belief these workers give.

Please help me continue to support our local shelters. For more information of Marsch Inspiration, visit www.melissamarschwalblay.com. For more information on Domestic Violence and what we can do to help, visit www.domesticviolence.org.

Blessing,

Melissa Marsch-Walblay

You can check out many of Melissa's pieces in our store. Right now we features tops, tunics, wraps, scarves and ties. All of the pieces are 100% silk and hand painted. Each piece is completely unique.

Fall For The Arts

Hey guys! There is a great art event coming up at Vanderbilt this weekend and we wanted to let you know about it. One of our artists, Audry Deal, will be there selling lots of great pieces like the one above. Here is a little info about it...

Fall for the Arts” is an interactive trans-artistic exploration of print, paint, sound, shape, motion, taste, and perception. Taking place in tents across the outdoor spaces of The Commons and Peabody lawns, and Cohen Gallery, "Fall For the Arts" is an expansive experience open to everyone.

The event, to be held on Oct. 9th from 4:00 to 8:00pm, will feature student dance and music performances, an art exhibition, art demonstrations, interactive art opportunities, literary readings, a "poetry car" and fabulous food. The newly-renovated Cohen Hall which houses Vanderbilt’s Fine Art Gallery will be open for tours showcasing a wide range of work--from ancient red-ware Greek pottery, to archaic Chinese funerary art, to a selection of contemporary works of art. In addition, original student films will be presented throughout the evening in the Cohen building.

Hope you guys can check it out! We also features lots of Audry's handmade goods in the store. She makes lots of vases, plates, coasters, soap dishes (goes perfectly with our lovely paos soap), flower pots, beanies, and scarves. She is just a woman of many talents and we're so glad to have her as a part of Mesh!

Also, I wanted to include a soap update. For those of you who don't know, Jenny and I make our own soap, called Paos. (Yes, that is "soap" spelled backwards. Clever.) We made our holiday scent this weekend. I'm not telling what it is until I can post pictures but I'll give you a hint. It smells like something straight out of your kitchen. Yummy. Pics to follow soon.

Crafting Balance Bath Teas

Starting in the month of October, every Tuesday we will have bath products 10% off in the store. So I just wanted to share bath teas we sell! For only $12!

This Sore Muscle Bath Tea is an all-natural herbal mixture that creates a soothing bath to ease the aches of a long day. Can also be applied directly for carpal tunnel, pulled muscles, or minor arthritis.

To use these teas, you put part of the mixture in one of the provided muslin bags and boil in a pot of water. After boiling, dump the whole pot into your bath tub and you are ready to soak! Each of these teas is good for 6 baths!...Not bad for $12. And they are also available in Cold Care and Renewing Beauty!

I'm trying to figure out how to get them on sale on the website as well so that will be coming soon. But in the meantime you can check out the website here.

I am obsessed with these new prints we are selling in the store! This is just one of about 8 different designs we have right now. I just think that they are so pretty, and fun, and romantic! Also, they are sized 8x10 so they are super easy to frame. All prints feature 100 year archival value, and will stand the test of time.

These are actually made by a graphic designer named Vanessa Multon who lives in Franklin. She works from home and this is kind of a side project for her. She started selling these on Etsy and this print was featured on the front page! If you're an Etsy shopper, you realize that's kind of a big deal! We are so excited to have her as part of the store. If you want to check out more of her work, you can do so here.

Just had to post this great pic Cristal took of our store front. She is one of our new local clothing designers and she is doing lots of tops and dresses for us, including some plus sized pieces. Most sizes go from XL-2X or 2X-5X. She also measures them for bust size, which is great for us girls! You can check out her blog here.

We're still very busy getting ready for our big birthday coming up on the 29th. If you haven't heard about it yet, just go to the post below this one. We've also added some new details. A friend of ours will be here all day doing free 5 minute massages and all tips will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Rutherford County. We're super excited about this, even if it's just a small way to give back. Hopefully the day will be great for all involved.
Once again, thank you all for your continued support.

Hey guys! With this being our first blog entry, I'll just tell you a little bit about Mesh and what's new for us.

Mesh is a boutique located at 113 W. Lytle St. in Murfreesboro. We specailize in local, handmade things including womens' clothes, artwork, jewelry, furniture, bath and gift items. As of right now we have 26 different people from the Middle Tennessee area who make items for our store. We are always looking for unique, local products to showcase.

Also, Jenny and I have started making our own vegan soap line called Paos. We sell it in the store and are looking to develop other bath products in the future. We have about 13 different scents including a "naked" bar which is completely free or any fragrance or colorants.

This summer we're hoping to get the soap out at some festivals in the area. The first of which is the RC/Moon Pie Festival in Bell Buckle on June 20th. It's a one day festival which features local artisans and crafters. Hopefully this will be just the first of many we will participating in!

I hope to update at least once weekly with some new products and artist profiles, so be sure to follow us and keep up to date with what's happening!
